Venues: propose and claim a place
Hosted events happen at approved venues in the Olympia area, or at your own home. Claim a venue to host there.
Open Hosting → Venues. Your venues are the ones you proposed or claimed; Other approved venues are open to claim.
Claim a venue
Choose Claim on an approved venue to show you may host there. Several hosts can claim the same venue. You need to claim a venue before you create or publish events there.
Some venues’ pages are run on EventBuzza by their manager (their page says Verified venue). There, the manager says yes to each event before it’s published; the venue list says so when you choose one. See Publish or submit for review.
Propose a new venue
- Choose Propose a venue, and whether it’s A public or commercial place or My home.
- Give its name, street address, How many people fit, and accessibility notes (step-free entrance, parking, restrooms). Events there can’t be for more people than that.
- Choose Send for a check. The team checks new venues before anyone can host there; it shows Waiting for a check meanwhile.
- Once it’s Approved, claim it and create events there.
- For now venues must be in the Olympia area.
- A venue the team didn’t approve shows Not approved.
Change how many people it holds
On one of Your venues, choose Change how many it holds, enter the number (1 to 100,000) and Save. It changes at once, with no check, and events there can’t be for more people than that. Your home too.
Any host who proposed or claimed the venue can change it while nobody manages it. Once a manager runs its page (Verified venue), its manager changes it in the Venue Manager. EventBuzza staff can change any venue’s.
Host at your home
- Propose your home with My home. Once the team approves it, it’s yours alone: nobody else can claim it or hold events there, and it never gets a public page.
- Each event at your home is checked by the EventBuzza team: choose Submit for review (it can’t be published straight away).
- People see A private home in your town or neighborhood, never the address. People registered see the address on the event and in their Plans; ask them to keep it to themselves.
