Privacy policy
EventBuzza helps people find what’s happening nearby from the flyers neighbors share. This page explains what we collect, why, and the choices you have.
EventBuzza is operated by NewBitsNow, LLC, a Washington limited liability company. In this policy, “EventBuzza”, “we” and “us” mean NewBitsNow, LLC.
The short version
- We don’t show ads, and we don’t sell or rent your personal information.
- Your name is private unless you choose to show it on what you share.
- Flyers and event listings are public, because that’s what they’re for.
- Your date of birth is never shown to anyone, only used for age rules.
- You can download a copy of your information any time (Settings, Your data), and ask us to delete your account at any time.
What we collect
When you use EventBuzza we collect:
- Your account: your email address, your name, and your date of birth. You may also add a display name, a profile photo, a short bio, a neighborhood and interests.
- How you sign in: sign-in is handled by Amazon Cognito. If you sign in with Google, Google tells us your name, your email address and whether it is verified. EventBuzza never sees or stores your password, and codes for two-step sign-in are handled by Amazon Cognito.
- What you share: flyer photos, event posts, comments, photos on event pages, corrections and reports. We remove location data and other hidden details from photos before they are kept.
- Your plans: events you register for and, for events run by a host, the details the host needs to run it.
- If you pay for the Venue plan: you pay on the secure checkout of Stripe, our payment processor. Your card details go to Stripe and are never seen or stored by EventBuzza. We keep whether your plan is on, monthly or yearly, and when it renews or ends, and Stripe tells us when a payment goes through or fails.
- The places you follow and the emails you choose to get.
- Alerts, only if you turn them on for a device: your browser gives us a private address at its push service, used only to send that device your alerts. Turning alerts off on the device removes it.
- Location, only if you allow it: your device’s location is used in your browser to show events near you. We don’t keep it with your account. Places you search for are sent to our map provider to find them.
- Technical information: a cookie that keeps you signed in, short-lived cookies used while you sign in, and a scrambled form of your network address (never the address itself) used to limit abuse. Your browser also keeps a few settings, such as the place you last looked at.
- Page views: we count how many times each venue and event page is opened each day, with nothing about who opened it (no account, address or cookie). A venue’s managers see these counts for their venue’s page and events.
How we use it
- To run EventBuzza: show events and flyers, list the events in the flyers you share, and keep your account working.
- To keep it safe: apply age rules, check comments and photos automatically for harmful content, review reports, and stop abuse.
- To read flyers: an AI service reads the flyers you share to find the event’s name, date and place.
- To email you what you asked for, such as a weekly email about places you follow, newsletters from venues you chose to get news from, and messages about your account.
- To fix problems and improve EventBuzza.
- We don’t use your information for advertising, and we don’t build profiles to sell.
Who sees it
- Everyone can see shared flyers and event listings. Your name appears on them only if you turn on “Show my name on what I share” in your profile.
- Hosts see what they need for their events, such as who registered.
- Service providers who run parts of EventBuzza for us and may use your information only to do that: Amazon Web Services (hosting, sign-in, email, maps, reading flyers, and checking content), Google (if you sign in with Google), TypeSafe (checking event details in posts) and Stripe (payments for the Venue plan: your name, email, billing address and card, which Stripe keeps as its payment records). Alerts you turn on are delivered by your browser’s push service (Apple, Google, Mozilla or Microsoft), encrypted so only your device can read them.
- In the future, a venue or a town may claim its page on EventBuzza to manage it and its events. Claiming a page doesn’t give it your personal information; it sees what you share with it, such as registering for its event.
- Others when the law requires it, to protect people’s safety, or as part of a sale or merger of EventBuzza, in which case this policy continues to apply.
Children and teens
EventBuzza is for people 13 and over. We don’t knowingly let anyone younger create an account, and we remove what we learn was shared by someone under 13. Teens from 13 to 17 can browse and share flyers, but can’t post events, host, or join events for adults only.
How long we keep it
- Your account information, for as long as your account exists.
- Records of staff sign-ins, for 90 days.
- Backups, for up to 30 days.
- When an account is deleted, its personal information is deleted: the profile, photos, comments, plans, Check it answers, requests and sign-ins. Flyers and event listings it shared stay public with no name attached, because others rely on them. Reports it made stay as moderation records.
- Payment records: a paid Venue plan is canceled when the account is deleted. Stripe keeps its records of payments, receipts and taxes as the law requires; EventBuzza keeps no card details.
Your choices
- See and change your profile in your dashboard, and choose whether your name is shown.
- Choose which emails you get, and unsubscribe from any email with one click.
- Download a copy of your information any time in your dashboard: Settings, then Your data. Ask us to delete your account, or anything else about your information, by writing to hello@eventbuzza.com.
- Depending on where you live, you may have other rights over your information. We’ll respond to requests as the law requires.
Keeping it secure
We use encrypted connections, sign-in cookies that page scripts can’t read, encrypted backups, and two-step sign-in for our staff. No service is perfectly secure, so please keep your sign-in safe and tell us if you think your account was misused.
Changes
If we change this policy we’ll update this page and the date below, and tell you in EventBuzza or by email before an important change takes effect.
