EventBuzza’s website checker
How EventBuzza finds a venue’s own website and calendar, what it reads, how often, and how a site can say no.
EventBuzza helps people find what’s on at local venues. To keep a venue’s page up to date, it looks at the venue’s own website and the calendar it publishes there.
What it reads
- A venue’s website comes from its public business listing, or from its manager. EventBuzza uses it only when the home page names the venue with its town, street or phone.
- On that site it reads the home page and a few events pages, looking for a calendar: a calendar file, a Google Calendar or Tockify calendar, an events feed, or event details on the page.
- It lists a venue’s events only after the venue’s manager, or the EventBuzza team for a venue nobody manages, says yes. Listed events link back to the venue’s own page.
- It reads public pages only. It never signs in, fills in forms or buys tickets, and it doesn’t keep the pages it reads.
How often
- A venue’s website is looked for once, then again about every 90 days.
- An approved calendar is read about every 6 hours. An events page read by AI is read again only when it changes.
- Requests name EventBuzza in their user agent, with a link to this page.
Saying no
- EventBuzza follows robots.txt. To keep it off a site, add `User-agent: EventBuzza` and `Disallow: /` to the site’s robots.txt.
- A venue’s manager can stop any calendar in the Venue Manager → Website & calendar (untick Keep my page in sync); its events still to come come off.
- Or write to us (see Contact us).
