How EventBuzza stays honest and safe

Where listings come from, what gets checked and by whom, what happens to what you share, and how to reach a person.

Where listings come from

  • Neighbors share photos of flyers they spot on boards, poles and windows, and members post events by hand. EventBuzza doesn’t make events up.
  • An event made from a flyer shows that flyer at the top of its page, so you can check what it actually says.
  • Details can change after a flyer is printed: check with the organizers before you go, and use Suggest an update when something’s wrong.

What gets checked, and by whom

  • Every flyer is checked automatically before it’s in the gallery; one the check flags, or can’t finish, waits for the team.
  • An event is listed as soon as it has a name, a date and a place. Only safety holds one for the team: a place that looks like someone’s home, text that reads as a warning or accusation rather than an event, or a date that can’t be right.
  • Comments are checked automatically for harmful words, and can’t carry links, email addresses or phone numbers. Photos are checked automatically too, and only members 18 and over can add them.
  • Anyone can report a flyer, event, comment or photo. The team sees every report, safety reports first, and three reports from established members take a flyer, comment or photo out of view until the team decides.
  • The team always uses two-step sign-in. Moderators never see members’ email addresses.

What reads your flyer

  • An AI service from Amazon Web Services reads each flyer for its event’s name, date and place, and checks the picture.
  • TypeSafe, another service, helps check the details of events: whether it’s a public event, and when it happens. It gets the event’s words only, never pictures, accounts or anything about you.
  • Hidden photo details, including GPS location, are removed before anything is kept.

Your name and your information

  • What you share says “A member” (or your badge) unless you turn on Show my name on what I share in your profile.
  • Nobody sees your date of birth, only your age group, and moderators never see your email.
  • You can withdraw what you shared, delete your comments and photos, and download everything about your account any time in Your data.
  • EventBuzza doesn’t sell your personal information or share it with third parties for targeted advertising. The details are in the privacy policy.

For parents

  • Accounts are for ages 13 and over. Anyone can browse without one.
  • Members 13 to 17 can browse, comment and check events. They can’t upload pictures (flyers or photos), post or host events, or join events for 18 and over or 21 and over.
  • An event at someone’s home is checked by the team first, and only its town or neighborhood is shown publicly.
