Finding events

Using the Events list and map

Search for any word, or browse what’s near a place or your location. Filter by day and kind of event; on a phone, switch between List and Map.

Search for anything

Type in Search events and flyers at the top of Events: a word like “Halloween”, an event’s or a band’s name, a venue or a town. Results appear as you type, from everywhere, with no location needed.

  • Coming up lists matching events soonest first and shows them on the map. When and Explore narrow them further.
  • Below them: events not on the map yet, matching Flyers (with See all in the gallery), Past events from the archive, and matching Towns and Venues (each with a link to see them all).
  • A word can be the start of a longer one: “hallow” finds Halloween. Every word you type has to match, so add a word to narrow it down.
  • Words printed on an event’s flyer count too, so a band named only on the flyer still finds its event.
  • Clear search and browse nearby (or emptying the box) goes back to what’s near you. The search is in the page’s address, so you can share or bookmark it.

Or browse what’s near

  • Find a place: a city, neighborhood, ZIP code or address, then Search. You’ll see events within 5 miles.
  • Use my location shows events near you. Choose Turn location off to stop.
  • Move or zoom the map yourself and the list follows what the map shows.
  • Nothing shows until you choose a place, and EventBuzza never asks for your location unless you choose it.

Narrow it down

  • When: Any time, Today, Tonight (5 PM on), This week (through Saturday), This weekend (Friday to Sunday) or This month. An event that runs over several days counts on each of its days.
  • Explore: All events, Learn (classes and talks), Outdoors (sports and outdoors) or Social (music, art, food, community and the rest).

List and map

  • On a phone, Events opens on the list, grouped by day: Happening now, Today, Tomorrow and the days after. Switch with List | Map.
  • Several events at one spot share a pin; tap it to choose one.
  • The venues button (under the location button) shows every venue as a square pin; tap one for its name, town and what’s coming up, and a link to its page. A filled pin is a verified venue. Your device remembers whether it’s on.
  • A dashed pin marks a general area: the flyer named the town but not the exact spot. Events with no place at all aren’t on the map but keep their own page.
  • If an area has a lot going on you’ll see Showing the earliest listings; zoom in to see more.

Good to know: Dates and times are in Pacific time, where EventBuzza’s events are, wherever you’re looking from.
